Two Tickets For Your Birthday

artwork courtesy of Josh Davis

The last time we swung by Glowhouse, we spoke of tours, loving ladies and his Deadweight Remixes album. Since then, he’s released his Slow Tide Ep and the somber-sounding single “Two Tickets For You Birthday”. -definitely a indie-friendly track. After a quick-creep at this single one might think “saddest man alive?” -Glowhouse is anything BUT.

His debut full length album is anticipated to drop in early 2012 with contributions from lowercase noises and many other talented musicians alike. Grouped with a star-studded crew to follow his waggin-swaggin tail across the country, Sugg and the Glowhouse crew plan to tour in lieu of his new -still “untitled” album release. When asked what Glowhouses’ major influences are he might very well say DRAKE (whthefuck?) The Weeknd and lil wayne. but having said that you can be promised whatever he produces will in fact be golden. You can find the mass of Sugg’s music via bandcamp and his “Two Tickets For Your Birthday” single  here.  Get some.

Weatherbox

Still trying to get back on the tracks of life. In the midst of it all though, I found a pretty sick mathrock/emo-pop band. Actually…they found us. At the end of their east coast tour. In the livingroom of our house. And it was awesome.

A  four-piece band from San Diego, Weatherbox consists of wolf-of-a-man Brian Warren, the grizzly George Pritzker, Drew Pelseik -the Ryan Gosling doppleganger, and some other guy (ever changing band members?). Between being burnt out from extensive touring and having limited space, these dudes put on a damn-decent performance. Definitely worth a quick slip if you’re into mathrock with heartfelt lyrics and good-lookin young men. Their future looks sharp with plans of playing an SD show with Tera Melos and Boris on Nov. 11 at The Cabash. If you can’t cruise down to killa-Cali for this show, you can find their newest album  “Follow The Rattle of the Afghan Guitar” via bandcamp. Below is a personal fav. Oh. yeah -and you’re welcome.

GLOWHOUS’N

Slowin it down to a cool speed with Alex Sugg an his crew. From what I know, he’s been hangin in the bushes since around May of 2010 with this project called GLOWHOUSE. He pulls airy sounding vocals into ambient-dark guitars with the occasional touch of soft percussion or cello.

He slapped the deck with his debut album “Deadweight” back in 2010 and released “Deadweight Remixed”  earlier this year featuring remixes by The Decca Sequence, -Soma-, Lowercase Noises, Hedia, Summer Of Glaciers, and Lymbyc System. Sugg’s new Slow Tide EP just dropped May 1oth and will quickly be followed up with a shy set of locations for his GLOWHOUSE SUMMER TOUR. You can freak your loneliness and crunch the tour dates (click!) here. Just pray that he visits a venue near your shitty-city. Besides…GLOWHOUSE loves the ladies.

FUTBOL

“The Land Of Enchantment” is our state motto. Kinda lame when contrasted to California’s “Eureka” which I believe, translates into “I have found it!”. Greek IS cooler than English anyhow so the apple doesn’t fall short. Back in April though, a small ski-bum city know by new mexicans as Taos got yet another international attraction.

On April 16, 2011 the small town of Taos, New Mexico opened the worlds highest altitude FIFA 2  training facility. And for those of you who are american and only play the video game, FIFA is the French acronym for Fédération Internationale de Football Association. Yeah, -it’s a fuckin badass fútbol field. Sitting at around 12,000 ft proves most appealing to international, professional and even collegiate teams looking to get that extra “edge”. Taos is also know around the world for is spectacular skiing and conditions. Did I mention the facility and field are state-of-the-art?!? Most of their drugs and alcohol are too. Shit is elite!
